This rotten wood is made from rotting logs with white rot rather than wood chips and so will contain some larger chunks of wood and bark.
 
The rotting process exposes cellulose in the wood and floods the substrate with nitrogen rich biocompounds which are very, very beneficial to a lot of arthropods! Rotten white wood is absolutely essential when keeping millipedes and other detritivores as it makes up a large portion of their diet.
 
We offer this to give a variety of substrate options and different aesthetics. This lumpier soil will be greatly enjoyed by many millipedes, isopods, and other detritivores that need rotting wood for good health and provides them with a long term food supply.
 
This rotten wood has been naturally dried to ensure it is safe to use for your critters. Occasionally the wood will be sent partially dried due to demand,but is still safe for your critters!
