Our Live British Moss Mix is targeted at hobbyists who want to establish a functional, self-cleaning ecosystem rather than relying on dead or synthetic décor. In a closed container or bioactive vivarium, these living mosses serve as an automated climate control system. They trap a cushion of humid air directly against the substrate floor, preventing vital moisture from rapidly evaporating under terrarium lighting.
The biological benefits of this mix extend beneath the surface. While the moss leaves absorb carbon dioxide and ambient moisture, their dense rootless structures (rhizoids) draw up waste nutrients from the soil, assisting live plants and working alongside your clean-up crew to keep the substrate fresh.
