This stunning species of stick insect once mature develops beautiful pinky red wings, which they are not afraid to use, looking like little fairies in flight. This species is mostly nocturnal but you will see them exploring and flying around their enclosure early morning and evening. They are not the easiest insects the handle as they are so flighty but make great conversation starters as no one expects a stick insect to be so brightly coloured! Care requirements: Temperature: 18-26 degrees, House temperature is normally fine for these stick insects Humidity: 70%-90% Food: Privet and Lilac Size: 12cm Lifespan: 14 months Breeding: These stick insects use their abdomen to hammer their nail like eggs into a soft material, like foam or rotting wood/cork bark, which must be provided once the females mature, unless they get egg bound. The eggs take 4-5 months to hatch. The young nymphs are easy to rear on privet provided they are misted regularly.
