Price is for 10 mixed cockroaches

These roaches hail from a small municipal town in Cuba called Jaruco and are an impressive size when adult with some females maxing out at 45- 50mm with the males only slightly smaller maxing out at around 48mm.

Housing: These do better with a bit of height a 32oz deli cup is ideal for smaller nymphs and a 5ltr Bratplast or similar would be my go to for a small starter colony. All life stages can climb and do so readily once the lid is off so a 25-30mm roach barrier is recommended for these. Vertical and horizontal hides work well and they also love smaller diameter cork tubes.

Substrate: A 30 - 40 mm substrate is recommended for these, smaller nymphs will hide and burrow in the upper layer of the substrate. A 50:50 horizontal humidity gradient within the substrate works well so that one side of the enclosure is dry and the other retains humidity. A layer of decaying hardwood leaf litter always helps retain moisture and gives extra hiding places for the small nymphs.

Humidity: These prefer a drier air humidity, i tend to spray once a week mainly around the sides of the enclosure and under some of the hides and a general mist throughout the enclosure but not to heavy it saturates the enclosure.

Temperature: As with all tropical species its good to keep these in the higher 20's 25C - 30C with a temperature drop to around 19-20C overnight.

Food: These will take all the usual roach foods, apple, orange (not as much as some other species), sweet potato, banana, dog/cat food and fish food. They can be a little protein hungry so always best to feed a protein food item. They will also devour jelly pots mine go through a good few during feeding intervals. Again trial and error is the best way to find out whats best for you and your setup.

Breeding: Once the females reach maturity which is roughly 5 - 6 months the females will readily mate with the males and after mating, the female will deposit oothecae, which are quite large for this species and they will deposit them with a sticky secreted substance onto the cork hides you have within the enclosure. keeping the temperature and humidity on the higher side is key to consistent hatching's. Ooths can take up to 4 months to hatch so again patience is key.
