Cubaris White Ducky - Danielle Jungle
SKU: CWD
Basic info Cubaris White Ducky is a small, slow‑growing, cave‑type isopod that needs warm temperatures, higher humidity, and lots of hiding places to feel secure. It is not a beginner species and does best with stable conditions and no sudden drying or cooling. Enclosure and substrate Use a well‑ventilated plastic box or tank with a tight lid and fine mesh over any holes so babies cannot escape. Provide an organic isopod substrate layer of approximately 5–7 cm made from organic soil, decayed hardwood, and leaf litter, with plenty of limestone pieces, caves, and cork bark; keep about one‑quarter of the enclosure filled with moist sphagnum moss and the remaining area as semi‑dry soil, and do not allow the sphagnum moss to dry out. Temperature and humidity Keep temperature around 22–26°C (high 70s °F), avoiding drops below 20°C and overheating above 28°C. Maintain higher humidity, roughly 70–80%, by keeping the sphagnum moss area well moistened while still allowing some airflow to prevent stagnant air and mold. Diet Offer constant leaf litter and soft rotten hardwood as the base diet. Add high‑quality isopod or fish/shrimp food, cuttlebone or other calcium sources, and occasional vegetables or fruit in small amounts, removing uneaten fresh food before it molds. Breeding and maintenance In good conditions they breed slowly but steadily, so avoid disturbing the colony and do not change all substrate at once. Check temperature and humidity often, mist the sphagnum moss area as needed, and regularly remove mold and leftover food to keep the enclosure clean and the colony healthy.
