Ardentiella Ember Bee are a very active species of isopod and are great fun to care for.
- These isopods are quite a large species and have some fantastic colours that vary between broods which is very exciting to watch as they grow.
- Ember Bee isopods are (we find) one of the easiest Ardentiella to keep.
- Diet: As with other isopods the main part of Ardentiella Ember Bee’s diet should consist of Leaf Litter, some White Rotten Wood and a good calcium source, I like to use cuttlefish bone. As a source of protein fish flakes and once a week a slice of vegetable like cucumber and courgette.
- Their preferred temperature in which they thrive the most is between 22 and 26°C.
- Very uncommonly in any species, they prefer high humidity from 60% to 75%, as this will keep them moist and prevent them from oversaturating. Provide airflow so no mould or bacteria can grow inside the enclosure and harm your isopods.
- Use a secure, escape-proof terrarium, as these isopods, mainly the younger ones, can easily climb vertical surfaces and escape the enclosure.
